this blog

gets barely any love from me these days. :(

I feel like I need to come back to it, re-design it a little bit (but barely, because I have no idea how to make amazing templates), and start again.

I should have some time; I just graduated from Swarthmore Sunday! Wooo! And I have videos and things that need posting here ASAP. I've subscribed to a few beauty boxes, and I've turned into a free sample-requesting maniac, and I figured the best thing would be to start giving mini-reviews of them here, partially so I can learn what I like and don't like without having to search through a journal, and because I feel like someone somewhere could use the info.

Also, I've started a Tumblr just to be a place where I can have conversations about dance, by posting my opinions of different dance videos. That site is danceloveletter.tumblr.com.

I'm off for now! I'm technically in the beginnings of an online interview; part of me believes it's a scam. Hopefully not.

sample to-do list

So, at any point in time, my friends can catch me in class re-writing a to-do list. These days, the list feels never-ending and no matter how much I do, there's always more. Here's a snapshot of my to-do list currently:

Thesis:

  • finish Ch. 3
  • finish Ch. 4
Senior Piece:
  • schedule harness time
  • schedule pool time
  • Pina Bausch/ Headlong "Pool" piece
Music:
  • record Suit and Tie cover
  • work on more music
The Cocoon:
  • Swarthmore Foundation application(due 4/5)
  • start MailChimp
  • Thank You cards
Young Audiences:
  • cover letter
  • work sample
  • email everything

  • RNM finale
  • panty party (4/10)
  • Zumbathon (4/7)
  • Krispy Kreme planning
  • phillytechweek.com
  • "nonprofit industrial system"
  • megabus

The format of my to-do list gets more and more creative, but the fact remains that things keep getting added, and things don't leave it nearly as quickly as I feel they should.

Cecily&+Nii Quaye

...are two pretty cool people who made my time in Ghana (and out). And they're both pretty talented artists. Cecily went back to Ghana a little bit ago, and while she was there, her and Nii met up and did this cover. I miss him. I miss Ghana. This brings back memories.

the quote jar: serenity prayer

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it, trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to his will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen."

People normally leave out everything after the first sentence when they talk about this prayer. Yet it is that second part that I always need to hear.

suit and tie cover

This cover is AMAZING. One of the songs I woke up to. Definitely got me out of bed and moving.

in the meantime...

This song popped up on my Facebook newsfeed from two different friends, so I decided to listen. So glad I did. It's such a good song. It'll get put into my weekly rotation, and probably my cool down for Zumba this week.

this life is CRAZY.

So many things are going on in this life of mine. I've made it as a finalist for Swat Tank, the business plan competition that my school is having as part of their LAX conference on entrepreneurship, so I will be pitching The Cocoon to a room of alumni and entrepreneurs on Saturday. Today I prepped for my pitch, and tomorrow we're pitching for comments and feedback from the campus community. At the same time, I'm still working on my thesis, and I'm still choreographing and working on my senior piece.

And taking my language class at Penn and taking tap class (which is also performing in the student dance concert in May), and teaching Zumba and planning more things.

Essentially, A LOT is going on.
