My first week of African dance was a little more challenging than I assumed it would be. Polyrhythm is something I am not used to, but it's a challenge that excites me. Being able to move each section of my body to a different rhythm in the same drum beat is something that intrigues me. This class is also FUN, which makes me happy. The toughest challenge is going to be to get over my nerves and just have FUN, without worrying about what criticism I'll receive. My body's translation of the movement being "spoken" to me. I either get it or I don't, and learning a new body language is always fun.
