Seems like my summer music is going to consist of Wale and Frank Ocean on repeat for a while...
Well, I'm finally settled in home for the summer, and I think this is when the boredom is starting to kick in. I've been texting/calling/skyping/oovooing people all week, and I think I'm starting to annoy them =/. But I'm so used to always running (Swarthmore will do that to you) that now that there's nothing for me to do (yet) I feel like a lazy bum. I went to the E.R.O.S. Fashion model casting call, and didn't get it, but still had a great time connecting with other youth in New Orleans (they're Gradbash 2011 is this Friday):
(I just looked up and saw Wale chillin on 106&Park so I'm kinda happy right now). Anyway, make sure if you're in New Orleans, that you come to this event. I know I'll be there! I love the fact that youth in my area are doing their thing and doing it well. John is getting it done! So I support.
Speaking of business, this summer is dedicated to doing the work necessary to get my youth-empowerment program off the ground. I have meetings lined up, a paid internship, and I'm gonna be in the LSBDC (Louisiana Small Business Development Center) as much as possible. They will know my name. Same with SUNO's business clinic and the Urban League's Women's Business Resource Center (as soon as I find out more information). I'm ready to hit the ground running, I'm just waiting for God to finish putting the pieces in place. So far, I think I'm set to be teaching dance some more this summer (which is a whole other issue in itself). We'll see what happens.
Till then, be inspired! Do something this summer that means something to you (even if it's catching up on your favorite shows or making bracelets, because that was me all last summer!)
