Today wasn't as bad as I'd thought it would be. i expected every part of my body would be screaming out in pain (and it may be in a day or two), but that didn't happen as much. My heart on the other hand, has proved that is is working perfectly fine. Today was a workout!
I'm realizing, if I had to pick something to get up and do consistently (as far as technique), I'd choose Umfundalai. It's pain that I feel like I can't complain about. I enjoy a lot of what we're doing (except the Nigerian Stomp!) and it challenges me. It might be that I like a style that I feel is fluid. I feel like my body is looser in that class than in Modern III. I like rolling hips and moving pelvis--my favorite part of my last Modern III class was hip rolls in figure eights.
All of this is helping and confusing me (in a way), because I'm at the point where I'm questioning a career in dance, and wondering if I necessarily need a "home" technique. What would that be? Could it be Umfundalai? Can I pull from all of the techniques I've learned and still be taken seriously?
