suburbia.(thoughts)

For my Dance Composition class, we each have to work on a solo project, (hopefully) using some of the things we've explored in class. All of this past week (my Fall Break), I've been throwing around ideas with my roommates (who, as I've said before, will be my dancers for this piece; I may actually need more people); and I think I've finally got a solid idea.

One of the songs I've been putting on the backburner to use in a piece is "Street Lights" (Kanye West).
(You should click on the video and listen to it while you read the rest of this post lol).

I'm thinking about exploring tension (sustained and staccato, fast and slow).
I'm also pairing that with the idea of the suburbs (If you're a Weeds fan like I am, think the "Little Boxes" theme song-->Here's the rap version of it lol-->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9c0lszyNSaw).
So what I want the audience to see is a sort of tension in groupthink(that one individual thought that doesn't go with the norm).

Speaking of groupthink, I think I may use the ending of the "Windowseat"(Lauren Hill) video [her "groupthink" assassination quote] as the beginning of my piece(4:55 and on in the video).

That's all I have for now!
